World's First Online Metal Drum Competition Announced

October 23, 2008

The online leaders of extreme metal drumming resources have announced another unique promotion. The Blast-Off Drum Competition has gone digital and will be a regular feature in Sick Drummer magazine.

Brought to you by Sick Drummer magazine, MetalInjection.net, Hudson Music and Axis Percussion, this first competition will begin on November 1. Contestants will create a three-minute (or less) drum solo video and upload it to a location to be specified within the November issue of Sick Drummer magazine. The videos will be judged by: Dave Culross (ex-MALEVOLENT CREATION, SUFFOCATION, HATE PLOW),Adam Jarvis (MISERY INDEX) and Elliot Hoffman (CAR BOMB). Judging will be based on eight different characteristics of individual playing and the winners will be announced in the January issue of the magazine. Two first-place winners will receive a new set of Axis Double A LongBoard bass drum pedals, and two second-place winners will receive a media gift pack from Hudson Music. The gift set will include instructional DVDs from Mike Portnoy, Jason Bittner, Chris Adler and copies of Derek Roddy's "The Evolution of Blast Beats". All four winners will be featured in Sick Drummer magazine and on MetalInjection.net.
